Worcestershire Sauce
Contains halal anchovies, but some recipes include alcohol or malt vinegar from beer.
Why?
Worcestershire sauce is fermented from anchovies (halal, as fish), vinegar, tamarind, and spices. Anchovies and most vinegars pose no issue, but some traditional recipes use malt vinegar derived from beer or include a small amount of added alcohol, and formulations vary by brand. Check the specific product's ingredient list, or look for a halal-certified version.
