About UmmahCheck

UmmahCheck is a small set of everyday tools for Muslim life: a halal ingredient checker, accurate prayer times, a Sharia-compliant stock & ETF screener, a Ramadan planner, an Islamic (Hijri) calendar, a Zakat calculator, and a Qibla finder — calculated and stored privately in your browser wherever possible.

Halal Ingredient Checker

UmmahCheck helps you quickly understand whether the ingredients in a packaged food product are halal, haram, or mushbooh (doubtful) according to common Islamic dietary guidance. You can either upload a photo of an ingredient label, which we read directly in your browser, or search our growing glossary of common food additives and E-numbers.

Prayer Times

UmmahCheck also calculates Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha times for your location — detected automatically or searched by city — using an established astronomical calculation library, with support for several calculation methods and the Hanafi Asr option.

Stock & ETF Screener

UmmahCheck also screens a curated list of well-known stocks and ETFs against commonly applied Islamic finance criteria — excluding companies whose core business is impermissible (conventional banking, alcohol, gambling, tobacco, weapons, and similar) and flagging cases where financial ratios or business nuance make the verdict less clear-cut.

Ramadan Planner

A day-by-day tracker for fasting, Taraweeh, Qur'an reading, and sadaqah throughout Ramadan. Everything you enter is saved only in your browser's local storage and is never sent to our servers.

Islamic (Hijri) Calendar

A calculated Hijri calendar you can browse month by month, with key Islamic dates for the year and a Gregorian ↔ Hijri date converter.

Zakat Calculator

Estimates your Zakat from cash, gold, investments, crypto, and business assets against the gold or silver Nisab threshold — a simplified planning tool, not a religious ruling.

Qibla Finder

Finds the direction to the Kaaba in Mecca from your location, with a live compass on supported devices and a static bearing fallback everywhere else.
