Mayonnaise

Also known as: Mayo

Halal

Made from egg, oil, and vinegar; halal, with a rare exception for wine-vinegar-based recipes.

Why?

Standard mayonnaise is an emulsion of egg, oil, and vinegar (usually distilled or cider vinegar), all of which are halal. A small number of gourmet or European-style recipes use wine vinegar instead, which most scholars consider halal too via istihalah (transformation), so mayonnaise is considered halal overall.
