Marshmallow

Typically made with gelatin, so halal status depends on its source.

Why?

Standard marshmallows get their texture from gelatin, most commonly derived from pork or beef. As with gelatin generally, marshmallows are halal only if made with fish gelatin or gelatin from halal-slaughtered beef; otherwise they are haram or doubtful. Some brands use halal-certified gelatin, agar-agar, or carrageenan instead — check the label.
