Gummy Candy
Also known as: Gummy Bears, Gummy Worms, Wine Gums
Typically made with gelatin, so halal status depends on its source (despite the 'wine gums' name, no wine is involved).
Why?
Most gummy candy gets its chewy texture from gelatin, usually derived from pork or beef. As with gelatin generally, gummy candy is halal only if made with fish gelatin or gelatin from halal-slaughtered beef, or with a plant-based gelling agent like pectin or agar-agar instead. 'Wine gums' are a British name for this candy style and don't actually contain wine or alcohol.
