Polyglycerol Polyricinoleate (PGPR)
Also known as: E476
A chocolate-thinning emulsifier made from castor oil; halal.
Why?
PGPR is an emulsifier used mainly in chocolate to reduce viscosity and cut down on the need for costly cocoa butter. It is manufactured from castor oil (a plant source) esterified with glycerol, so it does not carry the same sourcing ambiguity as E471/E472.
