Also known as: Sodium Lactate

Halal

A salt of lactic acid, produced by fermenting plant sugars; halal.

Why?

Sodium lactate is used as a preservative and flavor enhancer, produced by fermenting sugars (typically from corn or beets) with lactic acid bacteria. Like lactic acid itself, it is considered halal regardless of the sugar source used in fermentation.
