E306

Also known as: Tocopherols, Vitamin E

Halal

A vitamin E-based antioxidant, usually extracted from vegetable oils; halal.

Why?

Tocopherols are antioxidant preservatives, most commonly extracted from soybean, sunflower, or other vegetable oils, though synthetic forms also exist. Neither source involves animal slaughter, so tocopherols are considered halal.
