Tartrazine

A fully synthetic yellow dye; halal.

Why?

Tartrazine is a synthetic azo dye manufactured from petrochemical feedstocks. It contains no animal products or alcohol, so it is considered halal by ingredient source. Some people avoid it for unrelated allergy/sensitivity reasons, which is separate from halal status.
